Thank and Grow Rich: A 30-Day Experiment in Shameless Gratitude and Unabashed Joy by Pam Grout

My rating:
Genre:
Self-help // New age
“Important disclaimer: This book is not for everyone—just those who want to have more fun, more adventures, and more magic in their life.”
What it’s all about:
Anyway, this book is basically all about how to practice gratitude in order to get what you want in life. How to live the life that you’ve dreamed of. Instead of focusing on what you want all the time, you should focus on what you’re blessed enough to have in front of you. She claims that gratitude will basically allow you to let go of trying to control where you’re going and allow God (or The Universe, or Higher Power, or Mother Nature, or whatever the hell you want to call the force) take the wheel for you. Let the Big Guy do the driving, while you just sit back and relax. Trust that He’ll get you to where you need to be – where you want to be.
She backs up all of her claims with research, real-life stories of real-life people, and other things that show you just how super powerful gratitude can be. These stories were awesome and totally left me super excited to try out her stuff in my own life. She provides you with a bunch of “Party Games” that you can use to start tuning into the “frequency of the Divine Buzz” and allowing crazy, happy things to happen in your own life.
My thoughts:
In short, I totally flippin’ loved Thank and Grow Rich! I recommend it to literally everyone. Ever since the day I started reading this book and practicing what Pam teaches, I started feeling so much happier. I noticed a shift in my mindset. Maybe it’s all psychological – maybe it’s a placebo effect? I personally would like to believe that it’s just the power of gratitude working on me.
But the way I look at it, you have two options. First option: you’re open-minded about this stuff and try it out in your own life. Possibly end up being a walking, talking billboard for how these things can really change your life. Second option: you could be close-minded and maybe miss out on amazing things. What’s the worst that could happen? It does nothing to help you and your life stays the same as it is now?
