It’s no secret that I’m a bookworm. (In fact, you can read all of my posts about books here!)
So of course, I love making any art that’s book-related.
Recently, I was brainstorming about different surfaces to paint on other than canvas.
I wrote about how I decided to paint vinyl records right here, but I also decided that I wanted to try to make cute bookmarks.
Books and music are two of my favorite things, after all!
But anyway, today I thought I’d share my super-easy way of making cute bookmarks. 🙂
Materials
When I decided to try making bookmarks, I searched Amazon and came across this pack of blank bookmarks. They’re great quality and they’re super inexpensive for a pack of 100!
When it comes to coloring the bookmarks, I’ve used a couple of different things that work really well. These are the two things that I found work best:
I love painting on canvas with good old-fashioned acrylic paint. But when it comes to painting bookmarks, I found that paint pens or alcohol markers are much easier and less messy!
And lastly, I found these cute tassels on Amazon to put on the bookmarks. I love color coordinating them because I feel like it definitely brings the whole bookmark together!
(I also use a laminator at the end, but that’s optional.)
The process
The process of making the bookmark is super easy!
I’ve made about 10 bookmarks so far. For most of them, I sketch out the design in pencil first in case I make any big mistakes.
Then I color in the bookmark, attach a tassel to it, and I’m done.
Like I said, super easy! You can make any design you want – fan art, book-related art, quotes, or any other random thing you like. 🙂
I also use a laminator machine to laminate the bookmarks when I’m done, but that’s totally optional.
The outcome
As you can see from the bookmarks I made below, there are tons of possibilities you can make – patterns, characters, quotes, etc.
Making these are also great because if you’re like me, you’re constantly losing bookmarks somehow, haha.
I can’t wait to make more because I have so many ideas too!
Side note: if you’d like to purchase any bookmarks from me, you can find them in my Etsy shop.
