How do you organize your life in a world with so much to keep track of, so many responsibilities, and so many things competing for your attention?
This can be an uphill battle.
Organizing your life is worth the battle though. You’ll be more focused, more clear-headed, and more productive. You’ll just be happier.
Because who loves feeling like they’re living a life that feels like an overwhelming mess?
If you want to improve your life, you need to organize your mind, declutter your environment, and get your sh*t together – which means you should take action now!
So, here are some tips to help you learn how to be more organized in life!
✔ Declutter your environment
A tidy environment can benefit our minds by making it more clear, more energized, and more focused. This will allow you to feel happier, more peaceful, and more productive. So it’s a good idea to get rid of anything you don’t want or need, clean your home, and find ways to organize everything. You could even spruce up your space a bit with some new decor!

✔ Do a morning brain dump
Just like we should declutter our environment, we should also declutter our minds! Too many thoughts and ideas clashing for attention in your brain can cause you to become disorganized and forgetful. Grab a piece of paper or the notes app on your phone – or whatever you want – and write down every thought that comes to mind. Keep adding tasks to your brain dump until you can’t think of anything else you want or need to do. Cross out anything that’s not relevant and use the rest of the items to make a master to-do list and/or daily to-do list!
✔ Make to-do lists a habit
To-do lists are also a necessity when it comes to staying organized! I like to do a BIG brain dump and use that to make a “master to-do list” where I keep track of EVERYTHING I can think of that I need to do – today, tomorrow, next month, whatever. I keep this list handy in my planner and add to it whenever I think of something else that needs to be done. Then I keep a daily to-do list (also in my planner) and use that to plan my day. This system works so well for me and makes me way more productive!
✔ Keep a planner
Having a planner is essential for staying organized in life. We simply cannot rely on our brains to remember everything because they will fail us! A good planner allows you to keep track of all the things in life, including:
- Daily to-do’s
- Appointments
- Birthdays
- Ideas
- Goals
- More!
Here’s a good (and inexpensive) planner that I personally recommend if you want to stay organized! You can also find a FREE printable planner at the end of this blog post. (:
✔ Plan your meals
I gotta admit, I resisted meal planning for SO long and I’m honestly not sure why, haha. But let me tell you that now I don’t understand how people don’t meal plan. Weekly meal planning and then doing one weekly grocery shopping trip makes it all so much easier. You know the list of meals you have to choose from for the week, you know you have the ingredients for all of them, and you know you don’t have to make any last-minute shopping trips!
✔ Create a schedule and make it a routine
Creating daily routines will make your life more organized, more productive, and surprisingly less stressful. Start with a morning routine and think of things that allow you to feel energized and put together – like working out, eating breakfast, showering, etc. What about evening routines; what makes you feel relaxed and allows the next day to run more smoothly? Maybe reading or choosing an outfit for the next day. You can also create Sunday routines, lunchtime routines, or whatever works for you!
✔ Don’t procrastinate
The longer you wait to just get started on something, the more difficult it will be to just get that thing done. Take it from me, I know this struggle well, haha! If you want your life to be more peaceful and less demanding, then don’t procrastinate! I know this is easier said than done, but putting in the effort to get things done NOW will lift a lot of weight from your shoulders later. Trust me, if you can make it a habit to just make yourself do the things, it will become natural to you. (:
✔ Do a reset each month
A monthly reset is so helpful when it comes to creating this change and growth. A monthly reset is a chance to start over and give yourself a new focus for the new month. It can help you be more organized, prepared, productive, and focused. To read about my 10-step monthly reset plan, check out this post here!

Great post! It’s so hard trying to stay organized when you have such a business schedule. I do have a planner and I do write a lot of things down to help me plan my day or week but somehow, I still get lost.
Meal planning saves so much time. It makes weekdays so much easier for us.
